IVONNE GAMIO
Mexico-born Ivonne Gamio has a passion for her family and a zest
for life that is evident in her twenty years of architectural design experience.
She studied Architecture and Design at , UNIVERSIDAD AUTONOMA DE MEXICO where she
achieved her degree and license in Architecture. She received her Masters Degree
in Urban Ecological Studies fro the UNIVERSIDAD AUTONOMA DE GUADALAJARA. She spent
7 years with the Architectural Firm GOMES VASQUEZ ALDANA & ASOCIADOS,and played
an integral role in commercial development, including the Coral Beach Resorts in
Cancun, Mexico. She later worked extensively with Modern Mexican Architect and pioneer
Ricardo Legoretta on various commercial and residential projects including Regina
Hotel and Fiesta Americana in Cancun and Plaza Las Glorias Hotel in San Carlos,
Sonora, Mexico as the sole interior designer the project. Her innovative design
experience combines modern Mexican architectural influences of Barragán and Legoretta
with traditional colors and vernacular materials that are distinctly native to the
Yucatan.
Ivonne’s passion for the ocean and the natural environment is manifested in her
bold approach to architecture. She focuses on architectural design that takes full
advantage of natural lighting, clean lines, ocean views and the flora and fauna
indigenous to the Yucatan region. Through her designs, Ivonne has achieved a cultural
and architectural fusion where she unites the historic traditions of Mexico with
modern Mexican principles.
